Are aging rock superstars like Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones timeless or too old to perform on stage anymore? – Part 20
When asking whether rock superstars are timeless or too old to perform, I think it is fair to say that it depends on each individual performer. Their music is certainly timeless and will, no doubt, continue to be enjoyed by generations. However, there are some rock stars who just can not perform like they used to.
There are of course, some stars who are perfectly capable of performing as well (or almost as well) as they could in their prime and these stars are timeless. Then there are those who are still able to perform but just not in the same way. So long as those people realise that they must alter their style for them to still be good, then Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsBest ever cover version
It takes a really creative and confident band or performing artist to cover another musician’s song and do so in a way that doesn’t repel the listeners. One performing a cover version of an existing song must not only tweak it stylistically to fit in with their own identity as a singer or band but they must do this so expertly that those who have actually heard the original version appreciate the changes the covering musician has brought to the piece.
The best case scenario would probably feature the covering artist singing the original lyrics with the same sort of emotion behind it as the first version so the fans who worship the original don’t feel subconsciously offended by any Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsPsalm 104: The Creation Psalm
The 104th Psalm has long been known as the “Creation Psalm.” This psalm presents a poem about the creation of the world, and it contains several key passages that contains clues about key topics related to the creation, such as the flood, death before the fall of man, and the age of the earth.
First, let us establish a basis for the fundamentalist, young earth view of this passage. The Liberty Bible Commentary, produced by Jerry Falwell, states that the theme of this Psalm is “A poet’s version of the creation chapters of Genesis.” For the remainder of this article, the Liberty Bible Commentary will be referred to as the LBC.1
Second, consider the venerable commentary by Matthew Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsLandscaping Ideas for California Modern Homes
Joseph Eichler has made history, re-defining the American dream home and pioneering the California modern design. Today, there are countless ideas and approaches to landscaping, and the warm California climate provides limitless possibilities for your California modern home. But, to compliment the distinct architecture of Eichler and other modern homes, there are some landscaping guidelines that, if followed, will bring a beautiful balance of nostalgia and modernism to your dwelling’s outside area.
Mid-century modern architecture owes an obvious debt to Asian design principles. This influence is observed in the rectilinear geometries, open floor plans, multi functional rooms, and the all-important direct connections between the interior of the house and the adjacent garden. By following these three key principles of Read the rest of this entry »

No CommentsTV show reviews: Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew – Part 1
Personally I love realty shows on VH1. Rock of Love II, I love New York, and Flavor of Love even if they aren’t real I still find them funny and interesting. I watched Celebrity Rehab for the first time this past weekend and I felt a little disturbed for these people. I don’t know how they can put themselves out there on national television and talk about there addictions. The program is also only eight weeks long I don’t know how anyone especially Jeff can get even close to recovering in that short period of time. Some of that show just doesn’t make sense.
After I watched the episode I realized that a couple people on the show had done at Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsWill Britney Spears revive her career after her 2007 breakdown?
Does it really matter if she revives her career? Where was it headed anyway, except into the oblivion portal of washed up teen idols who have come before her? Did we really expect that her musical legacy would even compare slightly to her idol Madonna and have any where near the longevity?
If this is it for her music career, what is the loss? The corporation that saw her as a meal ticket undoubtedly sees her as a liability and would rather mold a new package to suit its needs, rather try to help her pick up the pieces. And honestly, did anyone REALLY think “Oops, I did it again” was going to send her to the rock and roll hall Read the rest of this entry »

No CommentsAssessing who is the greatest rock guitar player of all – Part 4
Okay, let’s get a few things straight, pronto. Contrary to popular belief or what you may have heard, the Greatest Rock Guitar Player of all time is not Jimi Hendrix. And it’s not Eric Clapton either. Granted, these two are legends, awesome guitar players, and two of my favorite musicians of all time, but it’s time for the charade to be impeded by rationale and cold, hard facts. Just consider me a guitar-playing Thomas Paine, and I’m here to shout it out from the rooftops and spread some “common sense.” Baby!
The Greatest Rock Guitar Player (GRGP) is drum roll, please Eddie Van Halen. That’s right my simple minded brethren, you heard me right, it’s Eddie “Freakin” Van Halen. Read the rest of this entry »
